Frequently Asked Questions
If you have a question that’s not on this list, please feel free to get in touch.
A teammate and I have a code conflict. How does Coactive help?
When a code conflict is going to occur, Coactive lets you know this immediately. You can see your teammate’s version of the file, review a diff between your two files, and even merge it with yours. You can do all of this without bothering your teammate. If you wish, you can open a chat, and work through the conflict together, all from the IDE.
(some of these features are not yet implemented)
How long will my data stay on Coactive servers?
The short answer: as short a time as possible. We believe in keeping your data only as long as it is relevant to your teammates. Once you have completed your work, we purge all data.
Which IDEs do you support?
Initially we are supporting Visual Studio 2017 and 2019.
How will you charge for Coactive?
After we launch the final product we will charge a monthly subscription. There is, of course, no charge to alpha and beta users.
How secure is my team's data?
Security is our top priority. We go above and beyond to protect your data. First, we use HTTPS for all communications. Next, we host our service with Amazon Web Services, which provides security from the moment your data leaves your IDE, from physical, to network and in all application layers.
We use server-side encryption for all data.
In addition, Coactive’s end-to-end encryption ensures that only you and your teammates can read data about your code, and no one else can, not even us! All of this happens automatically: No need to turn on settings or set up special secrets to secure your data. Coactive has it all out of the box.
Do I have to create a user account with you?
During the private alpha and beta phases we will create accounts for everyone on your team. Once we launch we will also allow sign-up using federated login providers like Google, Amazon, etc.
Are you planning on supporting other IDEs?
That comes down to demand. If you or your team are interested in seeing a Coactive extension for your favourite IDE, flick us a message and let us know.
